Conesha Washington is a Lyric Coloratura Soprano from Jackson Mississippi attending the University of Mississippi as a
graduate in Vocal Music Performance. She has performed locally and internationally, ranging from the Presidential Inauguration
of George W. Bush, New York's Carnegie Hall, to Austrian Castles. When getting her Bachelors Degree at Alcorn State University,
she severed as soloist of the Alcorn State University Concert Choir. She has also worked with the Natchez opera Festival,
Opera South and performed in various community concerts.
Conesha hopes to one day open a School of the Arts and restoration center. "I am very interested in spreading my knowledge
of voice with whom ever I can, but I have also been guided towards my life experiences and how hard it was for me to get here.
A little girl from an area no one would have thought to have gone as far as I did, being the first in my family to have a
Masters degree all the while over coming a learning disability. Many children, teenagers, and adults grow up being mentally
abused because of absent resources to help them. I want to share my life lessons with every one, but include
music in a positive way." Along with music Conesha also love to sew. Ranging from making gowns for her recitals
to costumes for performances with the University of Mississippi's opera workshop. This will be one of many programs
offered at the Restoration Performing Arts Center.
Conesha plan to further her schooling with a Doctoral Degree in Vocal Pedagogy in Performance, while auditioning for various
programs like the Metropolitan Opera and other Opera Festivals. Conesha wants to perform because god gave her the gift to
do more than sing, but to change lives through expression of music, character and drama.
“To accomplish these things and have more blessings,” Conesha says, “I must have love and dedication
in what I do at all time. With that, Conesha follows the scripture, love, (I Corinthians 13:2-13), for without charity there
is nothing to gain.
